Review:
1. Submarine - Very mellow track this one is. Slow tempo with air sounding synths. Not too airy. I vaguely got the feeling of being trapped on a submarine. And there is no way out currently presented to me. A very humbling feeling for some reason. Perhaps this track is to get you into the mood for the whole album, I guess I shall see...
2. Neverending Story - Distorted vocal sample beings the track with an chilling yet optimistic tone. Synths and percussion cue in shortly after. Echoing fade out of the synths about halfway through gives way to a deeper bass sound for the melody to continue. Various other sounds pop in here and there. I don't feel secluded on a submarine anymore, though. I feel like I got to the beach and taking a breather.
3. Cordial Family - More of the same from the previous songs it seems. However, emphasis on sweeping on frequencies for eerie sounding synths. Has a bit different feel to it than the previous tracks though, but not buy much, it seems. Not that I'm complaining, though. Breaks are the new thing for this track, but only lightly. Had a feeling of being in some rich family's mansion via The Shining, kind of... Not a spooky as the movie, for sure.
4. Mountains Landscape - Psychedelica plays more of a role in this track during the beginning. Effects on synths to give it more of an alien feel to it yet still has that chill tempo. This might end up being my favorite track. Beats play a bigger role around the middle before more acid-ish sounds come back for the rest of the track. It feels like the night on the beach where I escaped the submarine; looking up at the starts, waiting for someone or something to arrive.
5. Entre Palmeras - This one slowly eases into the psychedelic synths, not much of a bass sound to this one. Has a melodic feel to it compared to the previous tracks.
6. Tripad - New thing with this track is piano; none of the above tracks had piano parts. This track feels more involved and upbeat. I feel engaged to this track with the way it flows. Although, there is another distorted vocal sample added in the middle that kind of interrupts the flow and the song switches gears for sections of the song.
7. Rozococie (ft. Ajja) - Weird effects start the track and opens into an upbeat melody. A few distorted synths here and there. Feeling like a cloudy day with the sun breaking through (or trying to); albeit a warm day. Guitar becomes apparent, compliments the track well.
8. Bozom The main thing about this track is the didgeridoo to give it a tribal feel. A louder track than most this one is. Sounding very down to earth.
9. New Wave - Beats are strong in this one almost breakbeat in nature but not fully. Something about blueprints of the universe vocal sample in the middle. Breakbeat comes and goes in waves.
10. This Is The Begining - Little bit of an industrial feel to this track but has the same background atmospheric stuff going on. Feels more soothing than the last two songs. Like kicking back after just getting home from work/school. Has a bit of the breakbeat in the second half the song.
11. 00-16 - A happy sad tune starts of the track and echoing sounds. The meat of the track turns into distorted beats and keyboard melodies. Kind of has a finality to it as it is the end of the album.
Favourites:
4, 6!, 8, 10, 11!
Overall:
Very chill and melancholic this one, hence the title. Feels like an album to put on for when you want to go to sleep if you don't want to listen to the same ol' ambient tunes that you've putting on to go to sleep to. You might end up dream about being stuck on a submarine, who knows. One thing is for certain: this album is a very alarming departure from Electrypnose's usual funky psytrance sound and yet makes good on it. I like it.
